Consulate notice

Applicants who have been invited to Egypt by the British Consulate must apply in person at the embassy as biometric data is required.

Visiting resorts only

Tourists travelling to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba resorts do not need to apply for an Egypt tourist visa as they will receive a free entry permit upon arrival, allowing them to stay for a maximum of 15 days. However, if they wish to travel outside these resorts or stay for longer, they must obtain a tourist visa.

Do I need a visa to catch connecting flights via Egypt?

Those passing through the country’s airports to catch a connecting flight do not need an Egypt tourist visa, as long as they do not leave the airport and are there for less than 48 hours.

Can I stay in Egypt for longer than the duration of my visa?

Tourist visas can be extended at Egypt’s Passport and Immigration Administration in Cairo for up to three months.

When is an Egypt tourist visa valid from?

An Egypt tourist visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, rather than the date of entry into the country.
