1. Your passport - This must be valid for more than six months beyond the date of exit, and contain at least two blank consecutive visa pages facing each other.
2. One passport photo - This must be recently taken and have a white background.
3. A colour photocopy of the information page(s) from your passport.
4. A fully completed Ethiopia business visa application form (available on page two of our pack). This must be completed in block capitals in blue or black ink.
5. A copy of your flight booking confirmation, showing your outbound and inbound flights. The embassy recommends that you do not book tickets until you have received visa approval — see requirement seven.
6. An original business introduction letter from your employer. For the information required in this letter, please see the template on page three of our pack. If you are self-employed, this letter can be from a solicitor, accountant or Companies House.
7. A copy of the visa approval form from the Main Department of Immigration and Nationality Affairs Office in Addis Ababa. To obtain this form, your Ethiopian host company must submit a formal letter to them, detailing relevant information such as the purpose of your visit, the duration of your stay, and your passport details. Please see the example letter on page four of our pack for guidance.
8. Students - If you are a student, will require a letter from either your university/college, or an Ethiopian referee, giving you permission to travel.

What should the invitation letter for an Ethiopian business visa include?
The letter must be sent by a representative from an Ethiopian business, and include your full name and contact details, as well as the signature of the inviting party. The letter must also specify the type and duration of the visa you require, and you should attach a photocopy too.
Can I stay in Ethiopia for longer than the visa duration?
To remain in the country past your visa expiry dates, you must visit the Main Department for Immigration Office in Addis Ababa to apply for an extension.
When is an Ethiopian visa valid from?
The visa becomes valid from the date of issue, not the date of entry to Ethiopia. It’s crucial that you consider this before applying, to ensure that your visa will be valid for long enough.
